Evaluation of Methanolic Extract of Polyherbal Cream on DNCB-induced Atopic Dermatitis in Wistar Albino Rats

Abstract: Background: Atopic dermatitis, is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory and immunological disease affecting the skin, with serious impact on psychological life style of patients. Unique polyherbal combination Aloe vera, Erngium foetidum, Passiflora edulis, Syzygium samarangense, based established profile relevant to anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory anti-oxidant property formulated as cream for effective therapy. Materials Methods: Wistar albino rats were induced AD by sensitisation DNCB-BSA 1st day week followed re-sensitisation each additional 5 weeks all group except control intervention Pimecrolimus low high dose MEPC group-3, 4 respectively, however group-1 2 no treatment was given. Parameters such scratching behaviour, frequency ear thickness are recorded weekly basis, whereas Serum total IgE, weight histopathology done at end (42nd day) experiment. Results: MPEC has significant dependent decrease in parameters, standard drug highest positive results nearly equivalent result parameters frequency, IgE histopathology, case more than (standard drug), reflecting effect long term use compare Pimecrolimus. Conclusion: might provide good alternative therapy against improve patient without ADR.
